Job description

Build Something of Your Own

A growing veterinary hospital in the highly desirable Nashville, Tennessee area is seeking an ambitious Medical Director / Veterinarian who is ready to take the next step beyond a traditional Associate Veterinarian role.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a hospital, build and develop your own team, shape the practice around your clinical vision, and work toward genuine equity and future practice ownership without the substantial upfront investment and financial risk typically associated with purchasing an established veterinary practice outright.

For an experienced veterinarian with leadership ambitions and an entrepreneurial mindset, this role offers the opportunity to build something of your own while benefiting from strong operational support.

What You'll Receive
  • $150,000$175,000 base salary, dependent on experience
  • 20% production bonus with no negative accrual
  • $25,000 sign-on bonus
  • Genuine equity and future ownership opportunity
  • Significant long-term earning potential as the hospital grows
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 3 weeks PTO
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Continuing Education allowance
  • Additional benefits open to negotiation
Lead the Hospital Your Way

This is much more than a traditional clinical leadership position. You'll have a genuine opportunity to influence the clinical direction, culture, development, and long-term growth of the hospital.

Your responsibilities and influence can include:
  • Building, leading, and mentoring your veterinary team
  • Influencing hiring decisions and developing hospital culture
  • Helping select equipment and technology investments
  • Expanding clinical services and treatment capabilities
  • Establishing clinical protocols and standards of care
  • Shaping the long‑term vision for the hospital
  • Driving growth and enhancing the client and patient experience
  • Developing the practice toward long‑term equity and ownership

You'll have the benefit of operational support and resources, while retaining the clinical autonomy and independence to practise medicine according to your professional standards and vision.

A Genuine Pathway to Ownership

For the right veterinarian, this position offers a genuine opportunity to build equity and ultimately become a practice owner.

Rather than taking on the considerable financial commitment, debt, and operational responsibility associated with purchasing a veterinary hospital independently, you'll have the opportunity to grow alongside the practice, contribute to its success, and build ownership over time.

It’s an especially compelling opportunity for veterinarians who have considered practice ownership but want to pursue it through a more supported and potentially lower‑risk pathway.

What We’re Looking For

We're seeking a veterinarian who is:

  • A DVM or equivalent eligible for Tennessee veterinary licensure
  • Ideally has 2+ years of clinical experience
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality patient care
  • Interested in leadership and developing a strong veterinary team
  • Motivated by professional and financial growth
  • Entrepreneurial, ambitious, and driven
  • Excited by the opportunity to influence, grow, and ultimately own a veterinary practice

Previous Medical Director or leadership experience is welcomed but not essential for the right candidate. What matters most is a genuine desire to lead, develop, and build something for the long term.

Why Nashville?

Nashville offers an excellent combination of career opportunity and quality of life, with a vibrant music and food scene, attractive surrounding communities, excellent schools, and convenient national travel connections.

Tennessee also has no individual state income tax, adding further appeal for professionals focused on long‑term earning potential.

Could This Be Your Next Step?

If you’re looking for:

  • Greater autonomy than a traditional Associate Veterinarian role
  • The opportunity to build and lead your own team
  • A genuine pathway toward equity and practice ownership
  • Strong earning potential and long‑term financial upside
  • A $25,000 sign‑on bonus
  • The freedom to influence clinical and business decisions
  • The opportunity to build something that could ultimately become your own practice

this could be an exceptional next step in your veterinary career.
