Job summary

Froedtert & MCW Workforce Health is seeking a Medical Director to lead onsite clinics and workplace wellness efforts across the Milwaukee metro area and eastern Wisconsin. The role combines administrative leadership (0.2 FTE) with up to 0.8 FTE primary care clinical duties, reporting in a dyadic structure with operations and APP leadership.

The Medical Director will oversee clinical care delivery, guide performance improvement, review guidelines, and collaborate with CP and enterprise leadership

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of clinical practice with ambulatory primary care preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in a medical leadership role with direct management of providers.
• Active medical license in Wisconsin and board certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight of onsite clinic services in collaboration with the WFH Medical Director and APP Medical Director.
• May provide direct patient care at employer sites as needed and participate in employer client meetings.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, standardize processes, and improve care delivery across sites.
• Support annual initiatives focusing on patient engagement, quality, provider engagement, care team efficiency, and growth across locations.
• Review and approve clinical practice guidelines and policies for WFH Workplace Clinic and Wellness services.
• Collaborate with leadership to align services with employer needs and enterprise standards.
• Foster an environment where staff inform supervisors of unethical or unlawful practices.

Workforce Health is seeking a Medical Director to join our dynamic team. We provide onsite healthcare services to a diverse clientele of businesses throughout the Milwaukee metro area and eastern Wisconsin.

Our administrative leaders are practicing primary care physicians who bring current clinical expertise to leadership roles. This position includes 0.2 FTE administrative responsibilities focused on Workforce Health and may include up to 0.8 FTE primary care clinical practice responsibilities.

General Summary:

The WFH Workplace Clinics & Wellness Medical Director is a key physician leader who works in dyad partnership with the WFH Associate VP - Operations and collaboratively with the WFH APP Medical Director, WFH and CP executive leadership and the clinical care teams to advance and achieve the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the enterprise. In collaboration with the WFH Associate VP – Operations and the WFH APP Medical Director, the WFH Medical Director manages clinical teams to advance care delivery to achieve measurable improvement and best in class efficiency and effectiveness with a consistent patient centered focus. Together with the leadership group, the WFH Medical Director will assist in developing strategies to improve the value of services offered to the market and advance care team development.

The WFH Medical Director will effectively engage CP and Froedtert ThedaCare resources to help manage provider capacity to meet patient demand and ensure patient experience and outcomes are consistently achieved across locations and aligned with the Froedtert ThedaCare strategic plan. Along with the WFH APP Medical Director and Senior Medical Director-Occupational Health Services, is accountable for clinical performance of those providers employed by CP at WFH sites of care.

Organizational Relationships:

• Reports directly to the Senior Medical Director, Occupational Health Services
• In coordination with the WFH APP Medical Director, collaborates with the WFH Associate VP - Operations as a dyad partner
• Collaborates with the WFH operations leadership and executive teams and is accountable to WFH President for strategic direction of WFH
• Collaborates with CP executive and operational leadership team as well as Froedtert ThedaCare leadership

Essential Functions:

• In collaboration with the WFH APP Medical Director, provide clinical oversight of WFH onsite clinic services. Support providers in clinical management of select patients as requested.
• May provide direct patient care at employer sites of care as needed. Participate in periodic employer client meetings and presentations.
• Assist in identifying and addressing opportunities for enhanced efficiency in delivery of care, performance improvement, and standardization of process across sites.
• Coordinate with the WFH APP Medical Director to support the implementation of annual initiatives, especially those focused on patient engagement, quality initiatives, provider/staff engagement, care team efficiency, and growth tactics across the enterprise locations.
• Participate in provider team meetings to ensure consistent sharing of performance data, communication of key messages, listening to input from providers to encourage and support their active engagement and advance standard work for key processes across sites of care.
• Advocate for the selection of candidates who meet the organizational expectations of clinical quality and cultural fit, patient engagement and care delivery.
• Review and approve clinical practice guidelines and policies for WFH Workplace Clinic and Wellness services, in alignment with CP and enterprise standards.
• Participate in the development and execution of the Employer Services strategic plan and periodic program development. Collaborate with the Sr. Medical Director – Occupational Health Services and WFH leaders to align services delivered to meet employer needs.
• Create an environment where team members feel safe informing supervisors, physician leaders, and/or Compliance Officers of suspected or actual unethical or unlawful business practices.

Supplemental Functions:

• Participates in regular team meetings and provides consistent information related to care delivery initiatives, organizational communications, marketplace changes, and celebrations of success.
• Periodically rounds with providers to provide feedback, communicate key messages, and address market specific concerns and challenges.
• Participates in the operations meetings within WFH and CP with other medical directors and dyad partners.
• Participates in routine meetings with the Sr. Medical Director – Occupational Health Services, including an annual review of performance and goal setting.
• Participates in regular meetings with the executive leadership team designed to execute and advance standard practices across CP and WFH.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice. Current experience in ambulatory primary care is highly desirable. Experience in employer services or workplace wellness is desirable. Active primary care practice within Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role in a medical practice or complex physician organization is required. Leadership experience should include direct management of providers. Experience working with Advanced Practice Providers is desirable.
• Medical License in the State of WI.
• Board certification in a medical specialty.
• Demonstrated ability to lead by example, effectively communicate with diverse groups, promote shared accountability, and facilitate change and a clear focus on results.
