About the Area:

Frederick is the 2nd largest city in the state of Maryland and one of the fastest-growing cities in the DC metro area. The downtown area is packed with charm, including Civil War museums, Maryland School for the Deaf, row houses, quaint one-of-a-kind shops, local eateries, micro-breweries, and local distilleries that are mostly pet-friendly. Outside of downtown is a large military base, Fort Detrick. Just outside the city proper, but still within Frederick County, you can find rolling hills, wineries, orchards, and a strong agricultural presence. You can also hike part of the Appalachian Trail. Frederick is part of the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area - located less than one hour from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and about 45 minutes away from Gettysburg, PA. Frederick considers itself the city where hip meets historic every day.
