Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. seeks a Part Time Medical Director to oversee clinical care at the William Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, AL.

You will lead rounds, coordinate medical services, and ensure quality care for a unique patient population while collaborating with correctional staff. The ideal candidate is an MD or DO with an active Alabama medical license, BLS certification, DEA registration, and board certification in Family or Internal Medicine.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO medical degree required.
  • Active Alabama medical license.
  • BLS CPR certification (AHA preferred).
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Board-certified in Family or Internal Medicine.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and healthcare standards.
  • Ability to work with diverse patient populations and pass background checks

Responsibilities

  • Conduct rounds in medical and infirmary units.
  • Perform sick calls and manage chronic care.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and initiate care.
  • Lead efforts to evaluate healthcare quality and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and participate in medical education and training.
  • Possibly supervise staff physicians and other medical staff.

Overview

NaphCare is hiring a Part Time Medical Directorto join our team of medical professionals in the William Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, AL.

As a Correctional Medical Director, you will be responsible for ensuring all clinical needs are being met within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.

Responsibilities

The Medical Director is responsible for providing direct and indirect basic medical care to meet the physiological and emotional needs of the patients and ensuring quality care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

  • Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units
  • Performing sick call visits, and managing chronic care
  • Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies
  • Leading efforts to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services
  • Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities
  • May supervise Staff Physicians and other medical staff
  • Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
  • Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs
Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills

  • Medical degree (MD or DO)
  • Valid license as a physician in the state where the facility is located in AL
  • Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Possess a current DEA registration
  • Currently certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Family or Internal Medicine
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to manage and direct medical team
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
