Job summary

Philips in San Diego is offering Summer 2027 paid internships for Systems Engineering focused on sustaining and design controls within medical device development. The program targets undergrad or graduate students for 3–6 months at our San Diego site.

Interns will strengthen requirements traceability, risk management documentation, verification evidence, and technical filings to demonstrate safety, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance throughout product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS and/or MS in an engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of undergraduate coursework or enrollment in a graduate program.
• Foundational knowledge of systems engineering, requirements, verification/validation, or risk management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

Responsibilities

• Maintain design control documentation and traceability across the lifecycle.
• Assist with regulatory compliance activities and EU MDR deliverables.
• Support development and review of risk management artifacts (dFMEA, etc.).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve documentation and traceability issues.
