Actalent in Baltimore, MD is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for medical device platforms. You will work across hardware, systems, and software teams to deliver firmware on microcontroller-based products and embedded Linux environments.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience with Embedded C/C++, RTOS knowledge, and version control (Git).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• 3+ years of professional embedded software/firmware experience.
• Strong Embedded C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with microcontroller-based embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with embedded Linux environments.
• Experience debugging embedded hardware/software systems.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software/firmware for medical platforms.
• Develop software for microcontroller-based systems using C/C++.
• Implement bare-metal and RTOS-based applications.
• Develop software within embedded Linux environments.
• Integrate software with hardware and systems teams.
• Contribute to system architecture, design, and requirements analysis.
• Utilize Buildroot and related Linux tools.
• Debug and resolve defects across hardware platforms.
• Perform unit, integration, and system tests.
• Participate in code/design reviews and maintainability discussions.
• Support product integration, deployment, and sustainment.
