Job summary

Huntsville Hospital seeks a transport courier to move specimens, supplies, and lab reports between Marshall Medical Centers and other locations. Under supervision, you will operate a courier car, handle calls, mail tasks, and basic clerical duties while maintaining vehicle condition.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, and a dependable, detail-oriented approach. A 1–2 month training period is typical.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–2 months on-the-job training under direct supervision.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Good general condition and dependable work ethic.
• Verbal ability to communicate with healthcare workers.
• Numerical ability to calculate by formula.

Responsibilities

• Drives courier car and picks up specimens at Marshall Medical Centers and other locations as needed.
• Receives orders for supplies, gathers and delivers supplies.
• Maintains courier car by cleaning, washing and servicing as needed.
• Receives incoming calls and disperses to appropriate departments.
• Delivers mail to and picks up mail from the mail room.
• Performs clerical duties (registration, checking charges, scanning, indexing, printing results, faxing reports).
• Maintains good relationships between laboratories and other pickup/delivery sites.
• Maintains good relations with co-workers and other departments.
