Job summary

Syneos Health in the United States, Delaware, seeks a Medical Coding Specialist / Clinical Coder to encode adverse events, medical history, and medications using MedDRA and WHOdrug. You will follow SOPs and coding conventions in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in health sciences or equivalent, 2+ years in pharmacovigilance or clinical data management, and strong communication. The team supports development and rewards performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or related health science background.
  • 2+ years in pharmacovigilance, clinical research, and/or clinical data management.
  • Experience with MedDRA and WHODD; strong medical terminology.
  • Excellent written and oral skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Encode adverse events, medical history, and prior/concomitant medications using MedDRA/WHOdrug.
  • Generate queries for data clarification as needed.
  • Collaborate with medical monitors and Clinical/Data Management teams to ensure timely coding.
  • Assist in data coding consistency reviews and SAE reconciliation.

The coder will generate queries for clarification of potentially discrepant data.Ability to work in cross-functional team-oriented environments.Assist with data coding consistency reviews and SAE reconciliation, as needed. The Coder will collaborate with medical monitors, Clinical and Data Management team members, as required, to ensure the timely processing of coding, according to project timelines.The coder should have working knowledge of coding tools (ie. Medidata RAVE Coder, TMS, Veeva, etc.) Assist in interdepartmental training of new staff as needed.Minimum Requirements Bachelors degree or related health science background.Commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of a 4 year degree. 2+ years industry experience in pharmacovigilance, clinical research, and/or clinical data management required. Experience with MedDRA and WHODD preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology, clinical trials & coding is essential.
