Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a medical coding program through AAPC or AHIMA required.
• Current coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA required.
• Minimum of one year of medical coding experience required.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient medical records for completeness and documentation.
• Process coding work queues by reviewing and coding patient accounts for accuracy and compliance.
• Utilize coding software to assign and enter codes to prepare accounts for billing.
• Review, audit, correct, and enter professional staff charges for FMN, observation, inpatient, outpatient surgery, outpatient nursing, and ED accounts.
• Assist team members and providers with coding and charging questions to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain knowledge of coding standards and regulatory requirements and communicate changes to staff.
• Provide cross-coverage for other areas as needed and support Revenue Cycle activities.
