Job description

Medical Coding Specialist II – Inpatient

Join UW Health, the #1 hospital in Wisconsin, as a Medical Coding Specialist II - Inpatient. This full-time, 100% remote position offers flexibility to work from most states, with specific eligibility discussed during the interview process. To qualify for remote work, you must be in an approved remote work state listed in the provided link.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Determining and assigning ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, including present on admission indicators, and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes following official guidelines and based on knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
  2. Identifying cases requiring provider documentation clarification or specificity to ensure accurate coding; collaborating with the Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDIS) team and physicians as part of documentation validation and query workflows.
