Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and Medical Coding Education; or active coding certification.
  • 2+ years of inpatient facility coding experience required.

Work Schedule :

This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position that is 100% remote. Applicants hired into this position can work from most states, which will be discussed during the interview process.

Position: Medical Coding Specialist II - Inpatient
  • Determine and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, including present on admission indicators, and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes, following official coding guidelines and based on knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology/disease processes.
  • Identify cases that require provider documentation clarification or specificity to ensure accurate coding; collaborate with the CDIS team as part of clinical documentation validation and physician query workflows.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and Medical Coding Education; or an active coding certification in lieu of a medical coding education.
Work Experience:
  • At least 2 years of progressive inpatient facility coding experience (Required).
  • Experience in an Academic Medical Center and/or Level 1 Trauma Center (Preferred).
Licenses & Certifications:
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) upon hire (Required).
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) (Preferred).
