Job summary

University Health in San Antonio, Texas seeks a Coding Specialist to join our team. You will be the essential link between clinical, financial, and IT departments, ensuring accurate charge entry across all services and leading coding-related training initiatives.

The role emphasizes adherence to regulatory standards, QA, and collaboration with clinical teams to support accurate documentation and patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; formal coding program certificate preferred.
• Three years inpatient coding experience or more with accurate charge capture expected.
• Certification in RHIT/RHIA/CCS or equivalent preferred and beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient, outpatient surgery, and observation visits using ICD-9-CM and CPT coding as applicable.
• Assist in training new coding technicians and provide guidance as needed.
• Ensure coding meets regulatory requirements and health system standards.
• Promote professionalism and adherence to guest relations policy in all interactions.
