Qualifications

Job description



Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others while using your medical coding expertise? We're seeking a dedicated Medical Coding Specialist to join our client's team and help drive their mission to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities across East Central Indiana. Under the guidance of the Director of Revenue Cycle, you'll play a key role in translating medical procedures and diagnoses into accurate codes that support efficient and effective billing processes.



Schedule: 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday

Pay: $20/hr.



Key Responsibilities:



  • File billing forms for Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance and collect associated fees

  • Accurately enter ICD-10 and CPT codes, post encounter forms, and input provider charges

  • Audit and review claims to ensure timely reimbursement

  • Maintain and update patient demographic and payer information in the system

  • Collaborate with medical staff to clarify records and ensure accurate documentation

  • Support outreach events by entering EMR data

  • Provide coding education and stay up to date on the latest coding standards

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and corporate policies




Qualifications:



  • 1-3 years of experience with medical billing/coding

  • High school diploma or GED required; medical coding certification strongly preferred

  • Experience in healthcare billing or working in a billing department is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding, EMR systems, and insurance processes

  • Detail-oriented, highly accurate, and comfortable working independently

  • Strong communicator and team player with excellent problem-solving skills

  • Tech-savvy with great organizational and time management abilities
