Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist for a remote position with periodic onsite travel to client locations. You will review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS codes using 3M encoder, CAC, and EPIC, ensuring accurate coding and appropriate charges.

You will stay current with CMS and payer requirements, maintain productivity and quality standards, participate in training, and pursue certifications.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of medical coding experience.
  • Proficiency with 3M encoder and CAC.
  • Experience with EPIC and other coding software.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPTIV, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, time-management, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and openness to innovation, including AI.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid coding certification (AAPC or AHIMA); CPC-A, CPC, CCA, or CCS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical record documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPTIV, and HCPCS codes using the 3M software.
  • Apply E/M levels, injections, infusions, and other necessary charges for Observation cases using LYNX or other third‑party systems.
  • Conduct “medical necessity” checks for Medicare and other payers following CMS guidelines.
  • Monitor and resolve accounts that are Discharged Not Final Billed, failed claims, stop bills, and epremis to ensure timely, compliant processing.
  • Maintain productivity, key performance indicators, and quality standards for 3M 360CAC and CRS & Direct Code.
  • Stay current on CMS, AHA, AHIMA, CMS directives, and national and local coverage determinations related to modifiers and clean claim submission.
  • Report coding software inaccuracies and potential unethical or fraudulent activity to HIM Management or Supervisor.
  • Participate in required system, hospital, departmental meetings, educational sessions, and annual learning programs.

  • Pay range: $20.45 – $24.70 per hour based on experience
