Job summary

Sierra7 is seeking a Medical Coding Site Manager to oversee the daily operations of the medical coding department, ensuring accurate and timely outpatient coding. You will lead a team, coordinate with auditors, and ensure high-quality service delivery while adapting to changing deadlines.

The role requires credentialing with AAPC or AHIMA, 5+ years of coding experience (2+ years outpatient/auditor with VA), and the ability to manage multiple sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be credentialed with AAPC or AHIMA.
• Minimum 5 years of medical coding experience, including at least 2 years as Outpatient Coder/Auditor with VA experience.
• 2 years of experience with VIRR/WebVIRR.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of medical coders.
• Conduct regular team meetings to discuss performance, updates, and issues.
• Provide training and development opportunities to team members.
• Monitor and evaluate team performance and implement improvement plans.
• Assign work daily from site assignments.

Description

The Medical Coding Site Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the medical coding department, ensuring accurate and timely coding of outpatient medical records. Communicate effectively and professionally with site staff. Oversee and work with auditors to maintain accuracy and provide education to coders. This role involves assigning work, managing the coding team, and addressing client needs, to ensure high-quality service delivery. Assign work daily from site assignments. The Medical Coding Site Manager is a team player who supports peers, meets goals and deadlines, handles multiple tasks, works well under pressure, and adapts to changing projects and deadlines.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of medical coding guidelines and regulations
• Proven ability to manage multiple sites and Outpatient coding teams effectively.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
• Proficiency in using relevant software and tools (Microsoft Office, VA Coding Systems, SharePoint, etc)

Education and experience

• Must be credentialed with AAPC or AHIMA
• Minimum of 5 years of medical coding experience, including at least 2 years as an Outpatient Coder/Auditor with current Veteran Affairs (VA) experience.
• 2 years of experience with VIRR/WebVIRR

The role requires adaptability to business demands, which may require working outside standard hours
