Medical Coder (Remote - Optional) Wichita KS

Position Overview: The Medical Coder will be responsible for coding professional services at our high-volume pain management practice. This includes reviewing medical records, assigning diagnosis and procedure codes, and ensuring coding accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for professional services, focusing on Evaluation and Management and pain management procedures.
  • Assist providers with coding updates and education.
  • Support billing with coding questions and denials.
  • Conduct chart audits and provide feedback to providers.
  • Analyze hospital records for physician deficiencies and update EMR accordingly.
  • Review daily transcribed documents for accuracy.
  • Assign codes for inpatient, outpatient, and hospital encounters as needed.
  • Stay current with coding guidelines and maintain necessary credentials.

Additional Duties:

  • Support hospital policies and confidentiality standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with management and staff.

Qualifications:

  • RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCS-P certification.
  • Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology preferred.
  • Minimum two years of professional coding experience, including E&M coding.
  • Pain management experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with 3M coding software and EHR systems.
  • Knowledge of insurance payors and billing processes.

Physical & Environmental Requirements: Ability to read, speak, and write fluently in English, with good cognitive, vision, and hearing skills. Job involves sitting and working at a computer for extended periods.
