Job summary

DaMar Staffing is seeking a Medical Coder responsible for coding diagnoses and procedures for patient records, and abstracting data for reimbursement, research, and daily operations. The role supports physicians, staff, and case managers, ensuring completion of all coding goals.

Associates degree preferred; up to one year of relevant outpatient/ED coding experience preferred. Knowledge of ICD-9/10, CPT, HCPCS and related terminology is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree preferred.
• Up to one year of experience in physician/professional outpatient surgery or ED coding.
• Knowledge of medical terminology beneficial. ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS.
• Certifications may include CCS, CCSP, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, COC/CPCH.

Codes diagnoses and procedures of patient records. Abstracts information for reimbursement, research, and to generate statistical data. Perform daily feedback and education to providers, staff, and patients of BMG.

• Codes diagnoses and procedures of records.
• Abstracts information by reviewing records for reimbursement, statistical purposes for the daily operations, medical staff, and regulatory agencies.
• Serves as a resource to physicians, physician office staff, clinical documentation specialists, case managers, etc.
• Completes all requirements for assigned goals.

Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral, and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties. Associates Degree Preferred.

Associates Degree.

Up to one year prior experience in physician/professional outpatient surgery, and/or emergency department coding.

Knowledge of medical terminology beneficial. ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS.

Basic skills in verbal and written communication.

Certification in one of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCSP), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA, Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC/CPCH, Certified Professional Coder Payer).
