Role will be responsible for reviewing medical records to ensure the accuracy and specificity of diagnoses and procedures, optimizing reimbursement for hospital and/or professional charges. This role requires adherence to established coding guidelines and procedures.

• Key Responsibilities Medical Record Review:Accurately review documentation and assign primary/secondary diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions.
• Coding & Sequencing:Apply proper coding guidelines to sequence diagnoses and procedures efficiently.
• DRG/APC Assignment:Ensure accurate DRG/APC assignment for reimbursement optimization.
• Data Abstraction:Compile and extract necessary data from medical records to support hospital and professional billing.
• Administrative Support:Provide backup assistance for other administrative functions as assigned.
• Contract Deliverables:Ensure work aligns with established job standards and contract expectations.
• Compliance & Regulations:Adhere to all corporate policies, including those related to HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
• Requirements Education:High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification:Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification.
• Expertise in ICD-9 and CPT coding systems.
• Understanding of DRG/APC reimbursement processes.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Experience working with coding software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
