TEK Systems is seeking an experienced Maternal Fetal Medicine/OB Medical Coder for a fully remote, contract role supporting a pediatric healthcare organization based in Kansas City. You will handle professional fee coding for MFM and OB/GYN encounters, with emphasis on MFM surgeries, using CPT/ICD-10 and Epic.

Working in a high-volume, remote environment, you must meet productivity and quality targets, review documentation for accuracy, and collaborate with teams during Central Time core hours.

Qualifications

  • Certifications required: CPC/CPCA/CCS/CCS-P/RHIT or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional fee coding experience, with emphasis on MFM/OB/GYN.
  • Hands-on coding experience in MFM and OB/GYN services, including surgeries.
  • Proficient in Epic for coding and documentation review.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate and timely professional fee coding for MFM/OB/GYN encounters (office, diagnostic, surgical).
  • Code MFM surgeries and procedures with CPT/ ICD-10 accuracy.

Maternal Fetal Medicine / OB Medical Coder
Job Description

This contract opportunity is for an experienced Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) / OB Medical Coder supporting Women's Health and Maternal Fetal Medicine services for a nationally recognized pediatric healthcare organization. You will focus on coding a broad range of Maternal Fetal Medicine and OB/GYN encounters, with particular emphasis on MFM surgical procedures, in a fully remote, high-volume environment. The role requires strong professional fee coding experience, proficiency in Epic, and the ability to work independently while consistently meeting productivity, quality, and turnaround expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate and timely professional fee coding for Maternal Fetal Medicine and OB/GYN encounters, including office visits, diagnostic services, and surgical procedures.
  • Specialize in coding MFM surgeries and procedures, ensuring appropriate use of CPT, ICD-10, and other applicable coding standards.
  • Work high-volume coding work queues while consistently meeting established turnaround times and productivity targets.
  • Utilize Epic for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning appropriate codes, following organizational and industry guidelines.
  • Review clinical documentation for completeness and clarity to support accurate coding and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate virtually with the broader coding and clinical teams during core business hours to resolve coding questions and maintain alignment with coding policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and payer requirements relevant to Maternal Fetal Medicine and OB/GYN services.
  • Ensure coding accuracy to support proper reimbursement and contribute to the organizations overall revenue integrity.
  • Work independently in a fully remote environment, managing your schedule to complete a full-time workload while being available during core hours.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to all applicable compliance, privacy, and security standards in daily coding activities.
Essential Skills
  • Current coding certification such as CPC, CPCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or an equivalent credential.
  • At least 5+ years of medical coding experience, with a focus on professional fee coding.
  • Demonstrated professional fee coding experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) and OB/GYN services.
  • Hands-on experience coding MFM surgeries and procedures.
  • Proficiency using Epic for coding and documentation review.
  • Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding for maternal fetal and obstetric services.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Experience working high-volume coding work queues and consistently meeting turnaround expectations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team that operates in Central Time, with preference for candidates located in the Central Time Zone to support real-time communication during core business hours.
Additional Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience with pediatric and womens health service lines is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle processes and payer guidelines for professional fee billing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • Comfort with flexible scheduling within defined core hours in a remote setting.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving coding guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Professionalism and reliability in a contract role with defined duration.
Work Environment

This is a 100% remote, MondayFriday position with a flexible schedule, provided you are available during core business hours from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM CST and complete an 8-hour workday. Team members may start as early as 6:00 AM CST or as late as 9:00 AM CST, offering flexibility within the required core hours. You will work with a pediatric healthcare provider based in Kansas City, using Epic as the primary system for coding and documentation review. The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, focused on maternal fetal medicine and OB/GYN services, and emphasizes accuracy, productivity, and collaboration across remote team members.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
