Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a dedicated Billing Follow-Up specialist responsible for prompt collections of medical claims and resolving outstanding balances with patients and insurers. The role involves reviewing remittance, submitting claims/appeals, and ensuring accurate account documentation.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma with five years of related experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 knowledge, and strong communication

Qualifications

• High School graduate with five years of job-related experience in physician/hospital Business Office or Clinical Business Office.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 coding procedures.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Detail oriented with strong communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with data spreadsheets.
• Experience with Government and Managed Care insurance carriers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on outstanding claims and denials.
• Contact patients and/or insurance companies to resolve balances.
• Submit claims and/or appeals to insurance carriers; review remittance reports for denials and errors.
• Document accounts clearly and resolve to final collections; initiate collection letters for patient liability.
• Monitor accounts for payment reversals and updates; respond to patient questions professionally.
• Request medical record documentation as required to resolve accounts.
• Perform daily account follow-up using the worklist in the Patient Account system.
• Verify payment schedules for correct allowances and account numbers.
• Support contract compliance for HMO and PPO plans.
• Correct bad addresses as necessary.
• Strive for optimal collections for accounts receivable under 90 days.
• Adhere to Brooks Rehabilitation policies and procedures.
