This Medical Care Transportation Technician - Paramedic position is assigned to the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Transportation Services (VTS), Ambulance Service, in various VA Medical Center (VAMC) locations with an emergency room, acute care or urgent care clinic, or other similar departments performing basic and advanced life support procedures. This position is located at the VAMC, Asheville, NC.

In addition, to qualify at the GS-09 grade level, you must meet one of the following:
At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level, involving knowledge of body systems, emergency response, patient transportation, communication with dispatchers and healthcare providers, and operation of emergency/transport vehicles.

Two years of graduate education or a master's degree directly related to the position (transcript required).
-OR-
Equivalent combinations of graduate education and experience (transcript required).
You will be evaluated on competencies including Clinical Data Collection/Documentation, Emergency Care, First Response, Patient Care, and Transportation.
Experience can include paid, unpaid, volunteer, or service programs. All must include specific duties and hours worked.
Physical requirements involve heavy lifting, prolonged bending and positioning, and exposure to hazardous conditions and contagious diseases.
