Job summary

Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, MI (primarily remote) is seeking a Medical Business Specialist (Receptionist) to be the first point of contact for patients and families. You will verify insurance information, enter data into the registration system, and schedule appointments to ensure smooth patient flow and an exceptional care experience.

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Medical Practice Business Associate or similar healthcare role.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families professionally in person and over the phone.
• Obtain and verify patient and insurance information; enter data accurately into the registration system.
• Schedule patient appointments, including return visits, referrals, and diagnostic procedures.
• Support a patient‑friendly visit by setting the tone and assisting with needs throughout the visit.

A Day inthe Life

• As a Medical Business Specialist (Receptionist), you are the first point of contact for patients & their families. Your personal interaction and efficiency start the path for an exceptional experience of care, wellness, and healing.

• You will obtain/verifyall required patient and insurance informationand enterthe information into the registration system in an accurate manner.

• You will schedulepatient appointments which may include return office visits, referrals, diagnostic testing/procedures.

• You will set the tone forthe visit! You will greetpatients professionally in person and over the telephone and respond effectively to patients and their families.

What’s Required - Specialist

• High school graduate or GED. Associate Degree Preferred

• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Medical Practice Business Associate or working in a similar healthcare role.

• Proficient in typing, Windows, and experience with multiple computer systems.

What’s Required - Associate

• High school graduate or GED
• 6 months to 1 year Customer Service experience required. Usually achieved by previously working with the public with minimal supervision.
