Qualifications

• Associate degree or certification in medical curriculum and two years of billing experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent with three years experience in outpatient, Medicare and Medicaid billing for third party payers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze account detail (charges, payments and adjustments) and answer questions from payers and third party payers regarding claims or account status.
• Assist Supervisor and Senior Billing Clerk to identify and provide solutions for denials to obtain proper reimbursement or services.
• Process claims for insurance billing reimbursements.
• Assist medical providers and employees with the correct usage of diagnosis codes, CPT codes and modifiers.
• Support department compliance with governmental and other third-party payer rules and regulations governing coding and billing.
• Assist in implementing Genesee County Health Department program requirements for correct coding and billing.
• Create manuals and procedure documents for clerical staff on billing procedures approved by the Medical Health Officer.
• Assist with insurance verification procedures based on provider/service.
• Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable log.
• Perform other related duties as directed.
