UCFS Healthcare in Connecticut is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to support the RCM department by managing payer denials and rejections. You will help identify improvements in registration and coding and ensure accurate and timely claim submissions.

The role requires 3 years of medical billing experience, strong knowledge of HIPAA, and proficiency with EPIC and Microsoft Office. Open 8:00am-7:00pm; full-time schedule, 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.

Responsabilidades

• Follow up on unpaid claims using WQ and aging reports.
• Resolve denials by contacting insurers and submitting appeals.
• Correct and resubmit claim rejections promptly.
• Collaborate with billing team to address coding issues.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and insurers.
• Answer patient billing questions.
• Manage work queues as assigned by Billing Manager.
• Maintain knowledge of current billing rules and best practices.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and protect confidentiality.
• Ensure accurate submission by reviewing charges and demographics.
• Post payments and review account credits.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Outpatient Billing.

Expected Schedule

FT, 40 hours/week; Monday through Friday

We are currently seeking a Medical Billing Specialist who supports the RCM department through the management and analysis of payer denials and rejections. Assists in the identification of areas for improvement within RCM such as registration and coding.

Outline Of Duties And Responsibilities

• Consistently follows up on all unpaid claims utilizing various WQ and aging reports.
• Resolves claim denials via contacting insurance, submitting appeals, and informing Billing Manager of denial trends.
• Corrects and resubmits claim rejections in a timely manner.
• Collaborates with the billing team and Billing Manager to address coding related issues and discrepancies.
• Provide excellent customer service in verbal or written interaction with patients and insurance companies.
• Answer patient questions related to billing.
• Responsible for work queues assigned by Billing Manager.
• Maintain knowledge of current billing rules and best practice
• Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Ensures accurate and timely claim submission by reviewing charges, coding, payer specific requirements, demographic information as needed.
• Posts payments and review account credits as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager of Outpatient Billing.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 3 years experience in medical billing
• FQHC experience is highly preferred
• Experience working in a remote setting

Minimum Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• CPC is a plus

Minimum Skills And Abilities

• Ability to continuously access an internet connection with 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speeds
• Familiarity with Payer Portals
• Familiarity with software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Outlook, Teams, and Excel
• Experience with electronic health record systems such as EPIC
• Familiarity with medical billing and terminology.
• Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards, including HIPAA and Medicaid/Medicare rules.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or individually as needed
