Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years' experience in medical billing, coding, or charge entry.
• Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-9-CM and ICD-10.
• Experience with computerized billing systems and office equipment.
• Knowledge of compliance, cost reimbursement, and insurance procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Collects and audits patient charge slips and reports; obtains missing information.
• Assigns CPT-4 and ICD-9/ ICD-10 codes and enters charge data.
• Generates routine reports and reviews front-end claim edits.
• Reconciles payment batches and processes all forms of payments.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and assists with revenue-related projects.
• Maintains documentation and supports billing staff to resolve issues.
