Job summary

Yeo & Yeo Medical Billing & Consulting in Michigan seeks a Medical Biller to manage coding-based billing, client communication, and accurate record keeping.

You will review bills, prepare and transmit claims, follow up on denials, apply ICD-10-CM and CPT coding, and support a courteous, efficient office.

The role requires strong communication and knowledge of payer guidelines; experience with billing software and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree, Business Administration or equivalent; or the combination of education and work experience that enables the performance of all aspects of the position is required
• Certification in Medical Billing and Coding
• Knowledge of HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems
• Use of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding
• Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues

Responsibilities

• Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid
• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
• Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts
• Set up patient payment plans and work collection accounts
• Update billing software with rate changes
