Job summary

Yale Medicine Administration (YMA) is seeking a Coding and Billing Assistant 1 to review charge submissions for professional services, ensuring coding accuracy and compliance with HIPAA and payer rules.

Responsibilities include reviewing ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, modifiers, and documentation; entering charges; and collaborating with providers and the analytics team to resolve coding questions. Four years of related experience preferred; CPC-A certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and coding modifiers.
• Ability to review documentation against coding guidelines and ensure accuracy.
• Experience with electronic health records, billing systems, HIPAA compliance and coding policies.

Responsibilities

• Review charge submissions for ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers.
• Enter charges and ensure timely submission of clean claims.
• Collaborate with providers and analytics team to resolve coding questions and improve accuracy.
• Maintain compliance with Yale Medicine Administration policies and procedures.
