U.S. Dermatology Partners in Tyler, TX is seeking a full-time Medical Billing Clerk to perform data entry for medical billing from insurers and patients, post charges, payments, and adjustments in the practice management system, and act as a liaison between practices, the business office, payors, and patients.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in medical billing and accounting, thorough knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid rules, and strong Excel, Word and Outlook skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in medical billing and accounting.
• Thorough knowledge of medical billing procedures and insurance, including credit/collection procedures.
• Knowledge of Medicare rules and regulations.
• Detail oriented with professional attitude.
• Strong Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
• Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Post charges, payments, adjustments and refunds into the practice management system.
• Process refunds and issue refund checks to appropriate parties.
• Enter data for insurance forms with details such as policy holder and diagnosis.
• Contact insurers to verify coverage and extent of benefits.
• Prepare insurance claim forms and monthly statements.
• Review EOBs and Medicare/Medicaid payments for accuracy.
• Adjust claims to in-network rates and process write-offs.
• Answer patient and payor questions via phone or written requests.
• Follow up on unpaid claims after denial to obtain settlement.
• Maintain accounts receivable activities and monitor outstanding balances.
• Handle transactions for discharged patients.
• Ensure paperwork for services rendered is completed and filed.
