Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow up on outstanding balances and drive resolutions.
• Resolve issues preventing claim payments by coordinating with payers, patients, and clients.
• Process 40–60 claims daily with turnaround and quality expectations.
• Work claims in clearinghouse and payer portals.
• Research payer policies and apply them to patient plans.
• Validate reimbursements and appeal when necessary.
• Analyze data and report trends to management.
• Suggest solutions to reduce denials and AR age.
• Answer patient and customer calls and collect balances.
• Initiate refunds for credit balances.
• Maintain knowledge of applications used in workflows.

Position Overview

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. No weekends, holidays, or after hours.

This position plays a key role in keeping our clients’ revenue cycle healthy. You’ll own the follow-up on outstanding balances, resolve what’s holding up payment, and recommend improvements that reduce denials and shorten the age of AR.

Key Responsibilities

• Review outstanding insurance balances and drive them to resolution
• Identify and resolve issues preventing claim payment, coordinating with payers, patients, and clients as needed
• Process 40–60 claims daily while meeting turnaround-time and quality expectations
• Work claims in the clearinghouse and navigate payer portals
• Research payer policies and work claims based on each patient’s insurance plan
• Validate reimbursement requests from payers and appeal when necessary
• Analyze data, record trends, and escalate to management when appropriate
• Recommend solutions to improve first-pass denial rates and reduce overall AR age
• Answer inbound patient and customer calls and questions
• Collect balances on patient accounts
• Initiate patient refunds after confirming credit balances
• Maintain in-depth working knowledge of the applications used in our workflows

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent), or an equivalent combination of education and healthcare experience (Associate’s degree preferred)
• At least one year of experience handling physician office claims across various specialties
• Experience with internal medicine, family medicine, cardiology, pain management, or ENT preferred
• Excellent command of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS, plus Evaluation and Management coding guidelines
• Coding and billing certification preferred
• EMR experience required (eClinicalWorks preferred)
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Ability to set priorities and work independently with a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to handle stressful situations professionally
• Strong work ethic and a commitment to client and patient satisfaction
