Job summary

Responsibilities

• Review patient accounts and billing information for accuracy before claim submission.
• Prepare and submit electronic and paper medical claims to insurance companies and other third-party payers.
• Verify claims contain accurate demographics, insurance, provider, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, modifiers, units, and required documentation.
• Identify and correct billing errors before claims are submitted.
• Ensure claims are submitted within payer and timely-filing requirements.
• Monitor claim status and follow up on outstanding claims.
• Review EOBs, ERAs, and payer correspondence.
• Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient responsibility.
• Reconcile payments and identify discrepancies.
• Process secondary and tertiary claims when applicable.
• Maintain documentation of billing activity and claim follow-up.
• Identify reasons for denied, rejected, or underpaid claims.
• Correct billing errors and resubmit claims when appropriate.
• Prepare and submit reconsiderations, appeals, and supporting documentation.
• Follow up with insurance companies regarding unresolved claims.

Reponsibilites include and not limited to:

• Review patient accounts and billing information for accuracy before claim submission.
