Responsibilities

• Review, submit, and track claims to commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, underpayments, and aging AR.
• Perform follow-up on insurance and appeal denied/incorrectly processed claims.
• Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and other transactions accurately.
• Review EOBs and ERAs to identify discrepancies in reimbursement.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and referrals.
• Research and correct billing errors, coding discrepancies, and submission issues.
• Monitor aging reports and prioritize accounts to maximize collections.
• Communicate professionally with payers, patients, providers, and staff.
• Maintain documentation of billing activities, follow-up, and appeals.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and payer guideline adherence.
• Identify recurring billing issues and suggest process improvements to improve efficiency.
• Assist with billing audits, month-end reporting, and other revenue cycle tasks.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced, detail-oriented Senior Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of medical billing procedures, insurance claims processing, payment posting, accounts receivable management, and denial resolution.

This individual must be able to work independently, manage complex billing issues, communicate effectively with insurance companies and patients, and ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for services rendered. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a thorough understanding of healthcare billing regulations and payer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, submit, and track medical claims to commercial insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers.
• Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, underpayments, and outstanding accounts receivable.
• Perform insurance follow-up and appeal denied or incorrectly processed claims.
• Post insurance payments, patient payments, contractual adjustments, and other account transactions accurately.
• Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERAs) to identify discrepancies and reimbursement issues.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and referral requirements as needed.
• Research and correct billing errors, coding discrepancies, and claim submission issues.
• Monitor aging reports and prioritize accounts to maximize collections and reduce days in accounts receivable.
• Communicate professionally with insurance representatives, patients, providers, and internal staff regarding billing inquiries.
• Maintain accurate documentation of billing activities, follow-up efforts, appeals, and account resolutions.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and applicable healthcare billing regulations.
• Identify recurring billing issues and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reimbursement.
• Assist with billing audits, month-end reporting, and other revenue cycle responsibilities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume medical practice, specialty clinic, hospital, or multi-provider healthcare setting.
• Experience with revenue cycle management and collection improvement initiatives.
• Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or other relevant medical billing certification.
• Experience training staff or serving as a resource for billing team members.
• Advanced Excel and billing report analysis skills.
