Job summary

Qualifications

• Hold an associate or higher degree from a THECB-accredited institution.
• Hold current licensure, certification, or registration by a recognized health professions accrediting agency.
• Two years of full-time wage-earning work experience as a health professions practitioner.
• Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian licensure and wage-earning experience; educator prep review will determine eligibility.
• Complete an approved Texas Educator Preparation Program or hold Texas Teacher Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with rigorous learning activities across Health Science courses.
• Instruct in both front and back office environments and manage student behavior.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to district curriculum and TEA regulations.
• Prepare lessons with accommodations for individual student needs and differences.
• Plan use of materials, equipment, and technology reflecting diverse learning styles.
• Assess student learning and adjust activities accordingly.
• Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula as needed.
• Work with staff to set instructional goals and monitor progress.
• Lead extracurricular activities as assigned; uphold school mission and codes of conduct.
• Create a professional classroom environment and maintain strong parent/community communication.
• Ensure safety of students, equipment, and facilities.
• Teach Classes Taught: Principles of Health Science; Medical Terminology; Medical Assistant; Practicum in Health Science (WBL).

Education

Associate degree or higher (THECB accredited)

Texas Educator Preparation Program or Texas Teacher Certification

Texas health professions licensure/certification/registration

Two years health professions practitioner experience
