Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to support Womens Health services. The role involves assisting with clinical tasks, specimen collection, basic lab work, and coordinating patient flow and appointments. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential for this position.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, CMA/RMA certification or eligibility within 90 days, and BLS certification or within 6 months. Outpatient experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must obtain CMA/RMA certification or be active CMA/RMA within Penn State Health approved agencies within 90 days.
• BLS certification required or must be obtained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a variety of health care services.
• Obtain specimens as part of routine care.
• Conduct routine lab studies of specimens.
• Assist with administrative tasks including coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and handling phone messages.

Responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, for obtaining specimens, for conducting routine lab studies of specimens, and for assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and phone messages.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date or current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
• Previous outpatient experience preferred.
