Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Medical Assistant for Windham Primary Care to support patient care and administrative duties in a collaborative office. The MA will work under the supervision of physicians or advanced practice clinicians to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care.

Eligible candidates may receive sign-on bonuses with full-time or part-time options; per diem hires are ineligible. BLS and MA certifications are required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following: MA program with 160 hours of clinical, Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months clinical, or 1 year in a multi-provider setting.
  • Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required; BLS must be current or obtained within 30 days; NH Licenses for NH locations may apply.

Responsibilities

  • The Medical Assistant (MA) performs patient care and administrative tasks in a team-based office to promote smooth patient flow.
  • Functions under physician/AP supervision when performing clinical responsibilities.

Job description

Medical Assistant - Windham Primary Care

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Medical Assistants:

  • 0-1 years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
  • 1+ years of experience eligible for $5,000 (full time)
  • Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time MA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) role is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant MA role functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
  • License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required. (Prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from certification requirement). Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
  • Experience: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.

The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package.

The pay range for this position is $21.09 to $27.12 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
