Job summary

MaineHealth is hiring Medical Assistants to provide patient care and administrative support in a collaborative team setting. The MA works under the physician or advanced practitioner license when performing clinical duties and helps maintain smooth patient flow through the office.

For a limited time, MaineHealth offers sign-on bonuses for MAs: $4,000 for 0–1 year experience and $5,000 for 1+ year experience. Bonuses are prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following: 160 hours clinical experience in Medical Assisting, or completion of Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months clinical experience, or 1 year clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting.
• Certification preferred: AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT. BLS must be obtained within 30 days of start. NH Med Tech or NH EMT license required for NH postings.
• Experience: Relevant Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Medical Assistant duties related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based office.
• Assist with patient flow and coordination under physician/practice supervision.

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Medical Assistants:

• 0-1 years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
• 1+ years of experience eligible for $5,000 (full time)
• Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time MA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
• Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) role is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant MA functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
• License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
• Experience: Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package.

The pay range for this position is $21.09 to $27.12 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
