Job summary

MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, WA is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) to join the Allenmore Hospital office team. This role supports both clinical tasks and front-office operations under the supervision of licensed practitioners, including patient flow, vital signs, venipuncture, and medication administration.

The position is full-time, day shift, Monday–Friday, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus tied to a 24-month commitment.

Qualifications

• Washington MA-C certification required.
• At least 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Organize patient flow in collaboration with front office staff.
• Interview patients for initial assessment.
• Obtain vital signs and record data accurately.
• Assist patients in preparing for exams or treatments.
• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection as needed.
• Administer medications per WA DoH regulations and competency.
• Relay instructions to patients and families/caregivers.
• Send/receive patient medical records as required.
• Facilitate patient referrals and prepare forms.

Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) is an integral part of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider (APP) office team working under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner. Work situations require performance of safe clinical skills within the scope of practice of the MA-C. The MA-C has continuous contact with physicians, APPs, nurses, front office staff, patients and their families/caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include:
• Organizing patient flow in collaboration with the front office staff
• Interviewing patients
• Obtaining vital signs
• Assisting patients in preparing for exams or treatments
• Performing specimen collection, including venipuncture
• Administration of medications in compliance with Washington State Department of Health regulations and documented competency
• Relaying instructions/information to patients and their families/caregivers
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include:
• Sending and receiving of patient medical records
• Facilitating patient referrals
• Preparing forms for patients

Requirements

• Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C)
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Current BLS certification

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.83 - $35.71 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
