MaineHealth is offering sign-on bonuses for Medical Assistants for a limited time:

  • $4,000 for 0-1 years of experience (full time)
  • $5,000 for 1+ years of experience (full time)
  • Bonuses are prorated for Part-time hires; Per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation.

Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) role involves duties related to patient care and administrative support in a team environment, ensuring smooth patient flow. The MA I functions under the license of the physician or advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and patient care responsibilities.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following: Graduated from an accredited vocational or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience; completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months of clinical experience; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice. Equivalent experience evaluated case-by-case.
  • License/Certifications: Preferred or achieved within one year: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification. Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start. For positions in New Hampshire: NH Med Tech License or NH EMT/National Registry EMT license.
  • Experience: One year as a Medical Assistant or 6 months with certification.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements: N/A
