Impact Care Access Network Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to prepare for patient visits by pulling charts and setting up equipment, and to support clinicians with routine tasks in a busy care setting.

You will handle instrument cleaning, assist with basic care, track lab results, and manage medical office duties while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Prior EMR experience is preferred and strong customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program is preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR certification from an accepted organization.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments and rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, infection prevention, universal precautions, and patient safety.
  • Ability to accurately obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, weight, BMI, and oxygen saturation.
  • Ability to properly room patients and prepare them for examination by the provider.
  • Experience documenting patient information in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) system.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong communication, organization, time-management, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with providers, patients, front-office staff, pharmacies, laboratories, specialists, and other healthcare organizations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced primary care and/or urgent care environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in primary care, family medicine, or urgent care.
• Certified Medical Assistant credential, such as CMA, CCMA, RMA, or another recognized MA certification, although whether certification is required should be determined by the specific duties you expect the employee to perform.
• Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or a similar EMR.
• Experience working with Medi-Cal managed care patients.
• Familiarity with DHCS FSR/MRR requirements and audit readiness.
• Experience with referrals, authorizations, medication refills, preventive-care measures, immunizations, and quality measures.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus when useful for the clinic's patient population.
• Experience maintaining logs such as refrigerator/freezer temperatures, medication expiration checks, laboratory logs, vaccine documentation, and other compliance records.
