Job summary

Gunnison Valley Health in Gunnison, CO, is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide compassionate care in urgent and emergent settings. You will work with providers and a Registered Nurse to support procedures, prepare examination areas, and assist with specimen collection.

Responsibilities include helping patients with daily living activities, delivering age-appropriate care, documenting in the EHR, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a medical clinic is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with the provider and the Registered Nurse to complete procedures to support therapeutic or diagnostic interventions.
• Taking primary accountability in assisting the patient and family with activities of daily living.
• Providing age appropriate patient care to continually support the comfort and satisfaction of patients and families.
• Perform basic clinical skills within your scope of practice and specimen collection, while monitoring and communicating any changes in the patient condition.
• Document patient care in the EHR.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies, restocking, reordering, cleaning and troubleshooting.
• Prepare examination areas for patients.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Experience working in a medical clinic is preferred
• Licenses/Certification: Medical Assistant Certification preferred, BLS, ACLS, PALS preferred

Physical Requirements

Occasionally (1-33%) - Walking, sitting, crouching/squatting, stooping, stairs, lifting (0-20) lobs, carrying (0-20 lbs), pushing/pulling (25-50) lbs

Frequently (34-66%) - Standing, change position, reaching, reach across midline, handling, fingering

Continuously (37-100%) - must be able to see with corrective eyewear, must be able to hear clearly with assistance

Compensation: $20.84 - $30.82/hr, depending on experience.
