Job Summary

The Medical Assistant performs specialized work in inpatient or outpatient settings, assisting providers, nurse managers, and Case Managers during examinations and treatments, along with clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Administrative Duties: Using computer applications, answering phones, welcoming patients, updating and filing medical records, coding insurance forms, scheduling appointments, arranging hospital admissions and lab services, handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.
• Clinical Duties: Taking medical histories, preparing patients for exams, assisting during exams and procedures, collecting lab specimens, performing basic lab tests, drawing blood, taking electrocardiograms, and other clinical duties under supervision.

Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise). Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 0 to 3 years of related experience preferred.
• Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program is required.
• Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants or credentialing as a Registered Medical Assistant by the American Society of Medical Technologies is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire, valid for at least 6 months, and maintained during employment.
