Job summary

UFJPI in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a professional medical assistant to support physicians with clinical and administrative tasks under supervision. You will take vital signs, prepare patients, document in medical records, and assist with examinations.

You will administer medications per provider, travel to other clinics as needed, and participate in care team coordination while upholding customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1 year in medical assistant role preferred.
• 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in healthcare.
• 1 year experience with third party payors; data entry and review preferred.
• CMA certification required or within 6 months of hire.
• BLS required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
• Medical Terminology certificate preferred at time of hire.
• Graduate of an MA program accredited by NC.C.A. or equivalent.

A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician

Responsibilities

Take patient's vital signs. Prepare patients for the provider's care. Assist with patient examinations or treatments.

Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time.

Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician.

Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms. Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.

Administer basic first aid.

Participates in performance improvement projects.

Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.

Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers

Qualifications

ExperienceRequirements: 1-year - Medical assistant - preferred

2- 4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry -preferred

1-year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for imputing data andreviewing - preferred

Certification/LicensureRequirements: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required - or within 6 months

Basic Life Support (BLS) required - at time of hire- American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Medical Terminology Certificate preferred - at time of hire

Additional Details: A requirement of having completed an MA program that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board
