Job summary

Oaklawn Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant Student to work under supervision of the manager and provider. You will greet patients, record vitals, collect histories and prepare patients for examinations.

You will assist with specimen collection, administer immunizations, document in the EMR, answer calls, schedule appointments, process referrals and prior authorizations, and maintain exam rooms and supplies.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office or similar setting required.
• Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of patients, doctors, internal callers, and other healthcare personnel.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to the exam room and record vitals.
• Collect and record medical and medication histories; prepare patients for examination.
• Assist provider and nursing staff and support efficient clinic flow.
• Assist in specimen collection and labeling, immunizations, and medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments, process referrals and prior authorizations; register patients.
• Maintain rooms, equipment, and supplies; answer calls and manage inquiries.
