Job summary

Open Door Community Health Centers is seeking a Medical Assistant Trainee to begin an on-the-job training pathway toward MA certification. Trainees work under the direction of providers and RNs, gaining hands-on experience in patient intake, vital signs, immunizations, and basic procedures.

Successful completion of the training program and MA certification within one year is expected, with language-specific wage enhancements for Hmong/Spanish speakers after exams and added licensure incentives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to chart patient information accurately.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills (internet, Word, and email).

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate assistance to patients under supervision.
• Interview patients and record vital signs.
• Chart patient complaints and document intake information.
• Assist in minor procedures and immunizations as directed.
• Set up exam rooms and maintain clean, stocked spaces.
• Follow universal precautions and HIPAA/HITECH guidelines.
