We embrace our role as a nonprofit health care provider and community partner, leading in providing high-quality healthcare, dental services, wellness education, and family support services. Outreach includes free health screenings, insurance enrollment assistance, and health education.

Salary Range: $19.00 / hour

The Medical Assistant Trainee is part of a CHP sanctioned learning program to become a Certified Medical Assistant. Under the supervision of a CMA Preceptor, trainees must meet all program obligations, including attendance, online learning, and in-office training. The training aims to develop skills to collaborate with and assist healthcare providers, supporting CHP’s mission and values. Candidates should have a pleasant personality and be willing to travel to various CHP locations in Berkshire County if needed.

This position contributes to a caring, collaborative, and innovative work environment and adheres to CHP policies and compliance protocols.

Position Details
  • Grant Overview: This is a grant-funded position with lab, clinical rotations, and coursework. Work hours are 8:00am-4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch. The program provides supplies and covers coursework costs. The trainee must commit to two years post-training employment with CHP.
  • Compensation:
    1. First 6 months - $19/hr
    2. Second 6 months - $20/hr after coursework completion
    3. $21.50/hr upon certification
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Welcome and escort patients, prepare exam rooms, record vital signs, assist providers, and manage patient flow.
  • Perform EKGs, prepare lab requests, handle specimens, and restock exam rooms.
  • Update service profiles, answer calls, provide information, and perform clerical duties.
  • Respond to patient inquiries, pre-register patients, ensure follow-up, and provide backup reception services.
