Job summary

LH Care Services - HCE - Annapolis Thoracic Surg is seeking a Medical Assistant in Annapolis, MD to support patients and providers and keep the office running smoothly.

You will register and schedule patients, manage inventories, assist with injections, EKGs, spirometry, phlebotomy, and input data into the electronic health record.

Required: high school diploma, 1 year of clerical/billing medical office experience, CPR certification; bilingual interpretation is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office setting.
• Experience operating multi-line phone systems, fax machines, photocopiers, PCs, credit card machines, glucometers, EKG machines and other medical equipment as required by the medical practice.

Responsibilities

• Able to register and schedule patients and print documents including the providers' daily schedule.
• Ensure inventories of medical and office supplies are stocked and maintained in the office and exam rooms.
• Process ordering of clinical supplies according to practice standards.
• Administers injections, EKGs, spirometry, performs phlebotomy and renders therapeutic treatments as instructed by the physician.
• Determine patient eligibility using programs such as Medicaid EVS and identify when referrals/preauthorization are needed.
• Answer and screen calls, greet patients professionally, and protect PHI according to policy.
• Input data into the electronic health record accurately and timely.
