Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers is seeking a dedicated Women’s Health Medical Assistant to join our Gynecologic Oncology team in Gilbert, AZ. The role covers pre/post-operative care, room setup, instrument prep, and assisting with in-office procedures.

Travel to other Ironwood locations is required. The ideal candidate has MA certification, 1–2 years in a fast-paced setting, and strong communication and teamwork skills in oncology care.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Experience in surgical or women’s health settings preferred.
• 1–2 years MA experience in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with adaptability.
• EMR experience and computer proficiency a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in pre- and post-operative care for gynecology patients.
• Prepare exam rooms and surgical instruments.
• Maintain supplies and equipment, ensuring sterile technique.
• Support minor in-office procedures and wound care; specimen collection.
• Coordinate patient education and follow-up appointments.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation; process referrals as needed.
• Perform administrative duties including chart prep, scheduling, data entry, calls and patient registration.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist in pre- and post-operative care for gynecology patients

• Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, strong understanding of sterile techniques. Must possess excellent sterile technique.

What We’re Looking For:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)- **Only candidates who currently hold a valid Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain w/in 90 days will be considered***
• Experience in surgical or women’s health settings highly preferred
