Job summary

VNACJ Community Health Center is seeking a Medical Assistant Supervisor to lead Certified Medical Assistants across the organization and support clinical excellence in patient care. The role involves supervising CMA staff, providing clinical oversight, and collaborating with the Nurse Manager to maintain high standards of service.

The position requires supervisory experience, CMA certification, EKG and phlebotomy experience, and a NJ driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved school with current national certification from an approved certifying body.
• 2+ years of medical assistant experience preferred.
• 1+ Supervisory experience required.
• Experience in EKG and phlebotomy.
• BLS certification.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish/Haitian Creole) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Certified Medical Assistants across the organization in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.
• Provides clinical oversight of CMA services through direct observation and competency assessment.
• Monitors administrative tasks such as inboxes, prior authorizations, and scanning; allocates resources to stay current.
• Ensures environment of care adheres to infection control and safety policies.

Why This Role Matters

Medical Assistant Supervisor will be responsible for assisting in providing care to patients as well as supervising the Certified Medical Assistants across the organization, in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.

Responsibilities

• Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with colleagues up, down, and across the organization
• Assists in professional development of all Certified Medical Assistant staff; designs and executes training programs as needed
• Supervises assigned CMA’s in conjunction with the organization’s managerial and leadership practices
• Provides clinical oversight of the services provided by the Certified Medical Assistants across the organization through direct observation and formal competency assessment, in conjunction with the Nurse Manager
• Monitors task boxes, inboxes, scanning needs, prior authorizations, and other administrative tasks, in conjunction with Senior Certified Medical Assistants; deploys support and resources where needed to stay current with these tasks
• Assists with oversight of the environment of care, ensuring adherence to CHC infection control and safety policies and procedures; monitors employee performance in the same
• Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance
• Omission of specific duties does not exclude them from this position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this position

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved school with current national certification from an approved certifying body
• 2+ years of medical assistant experience preferred
• 1+ Supervisory experience required
• Experience in EKG and phlebotomy
• BLS certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license
• Bilingual (English/Spanish/Haitian Creole) preferred

• Working indoors with telephone, copier, fax machine, computer, printer, centrifuge, electric exam table, glucometer, nebulizer, needles/syringes, oxygen equipment, scales, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, thermometer, venipuncture equipment, wheelchair.

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the total compensation range for this position is USD $26.00 to USD $34.00.
