Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient examinations and treatment plans within a clinical practice. You will assist in coordinating patient care under the supervision of a provider, prepare rooms, document vital signs and patient history, and help with back-office testing and procedures.

The role requires completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent, with certification within 120 days; CPR and background clearances are required.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Certification training and/or testing within 30 days of hire and certification within 120 days of hire.
• Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA)
• Employees with an Associate's degree may be preferred for advancement.
• CPR - American Heart Association and background clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients; record vitals, history, tobacco and medication screening; update health records.
• Perform back office testing and assist with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with additional training.
• Provide follow-up with patients via preferred method and communicate test results timely.
