Job summary

New York Health (NYH) is seeking a Medical Assistant/Scribe for our Urology practice in Jackson Heights, NY. You will manage patient intakes, record vitals, collect specimens, and assist providers during exams, with strict attention to accurate charting.

The position offers 4/10 shifts (Mon-Thurs, Fri off) and a starting pay of $24/hour, with health, dental, vision and more from day one. Bilingual English/Spanish required; travel to Brooklyn/Staten Island locations may be needed.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certificate and High School Diploma required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Proficiency with an EMR system preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and travel to NYH locations.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes and record information.
• Collect and process lab specimens and venipuncture.
• Record vital signs and prepare patients for examinations.
• Sterilize equipment and assist during visits.
• Assist physicians and data entry; perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.

Job Description

Medical Assistant/Scribe (Urology Practice)

Location: Jackson Heights, NY

Hours/Days: 4/10 hr shifts; Mon - Thu RDO Fri (7:30a-6:30p)

Organization: New York Health (NYH) - Urology

In This Role, You Will

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording.
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests.
• Record patients' vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
• Assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process.
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures.
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
• Other duties as assigned.

We Require

• A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Proficiency with an EMR system (Preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
• Must be able to float to our Brooklyn and Staten island urology locations
