Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant provides front and back office support, escorts patients, maintains exam rooms, and supports clinical procedures. Knowledge of medical office procedures and quality phone service is essential. The MA maintains accurate patient information, supports patient care under provider supervision, and performs clerical duties to improve patient experience and communication.

Essential Functions

• Prepare treatment rooms, escort patients, obtain brief histories, take vital signs, and assist during exams.
• Travel to off-site locations for testing and procedures such as TB testing, injections, phlebotomy.
• Administer and record injections and TB tests under supervision.
• Perform venipuncture, lab tests, and office procedures like PFT, UDS, EKG, and fit testing.
• Handle telephone communications, document and relay information, and manage medication refills.
• Perform front office duties including reception, scheduling, and insurance communication.
• Coordinate with insurance for authorizations and referrals, and assist case management as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program - Required
• High School Diploma or GED - Required
• 6 months experience as a Medical Assistant - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
• Completion of an approved training program or equivalent, and passing a certifying exam - Required
• Fingerprint Clearance Card - Required; must obtain within 7 days of employment if not already held
• Medical Assistant Certification (e.g., CMA, CCMA, RMA) - Preferred; HonorHealth reimburses exam costs
